The Hive Eco-Hub at The Pantiles Tunbridge Wells

The Hive is giving a new lease of life for one of the oldest buildings in Tunbridge Wells at 12-16 The Pantiles.

Previously known as The Walks and the (Royal) Parade, The Pantiles is steeped in history and remains a hugely popular destination for shoppers and socialites alike, offering unrivalled style and sophistication reminiscent of its Georgian heyday. In line with its sustainability mission, The Hive will offer a truly unique work and social space, where old meets new.

Rapidly-growing coworking and restaurant group, The Hive, is coming to the Pantiles. The Hive, currently of Cranbrook and Flimwell, has announced it will be launching its fourth flexible coworking and hospitality site, at 12-16 The Pantiles, offering customers the flexibility to work across all four locations.

Ground Floor – Kypseli Taverna (public entrance)

Starting on the ground floor, visitors will receive an authentic Greek welcome at the Kypseli Taverna – (Kypseli means “Hive” in Greek). Open to the public, Kypseli will offer a relaxed space where friends and family of all ages can gather to enjoy taverna dining. Fresh Kent and Sussex produce combined with  Greek ingredients will be used to create favourite Ionian dishes such as Pastitsatha, Moussaka, lamb kleftiko and 24-hour marinated souvlaki.  Other delights will include filo pastries such a spinach pie and pistachio baklava, with a variety of foods suitable for those that are vegan and gluten free. There will also be outdoor seating where diners can enjoy the buzz of Bath Square. As well as serving delicious freshly-prepared food on a daily basis, there will also be live music and an array of events, private dining and parties.

Upper Floors (separate business-only entrance)

Moving up to the first and second floors, coworkers will find the perfect private and professional environment including desk space, meeting rooms, zoom booths, and secure 1GB super-fast internet access, as well as boutique office suites for one, two, three and four people. Rooms can be coupled to create suites for larger numbers. This modern coworking space will be fully furnished with height adjustable desks, integrated charging points and mobile monitors for streaming. NB: The entrance to the business suites is private and cannot be accessed via the Taverna.

Co-founder and Managing Director of The Hive, Emma Smith, commented: “It’s clear that remote and hybrid working is here to stay. The UK has experienced the largest start-up boom of the decade, leading to an increasing number of people looking to supplement homeworking with coworking. And this is where we come in. Coworking offers a flexible way to separate home and work life, interact with others to generate leads, team up with colleagues, and share knowledge and skills – all in an uplifting and energised environment. The Hive will have an amazing, positive vibe and will be a great place to visit – whether it’s friends and family getting together for fabulous food, or businesspeople looking for a whole new work-life experience.”

A sustainable future

At the heart of the Hive’s ethos is sustainability and eco-localism. The aim of eco-localism is to build a sustainable, self-reliant community which draws upon local knowledge, skills and resources, to encourage both local community and the environment to flourish. Part of this is creating local state-of-the-art hubs that reduce the need to commute, reduce travel distances and improve the environment. At The Hive, everything is designed with sustainability in mind.

Paul Burnett, Asset Manager of The Pantiles said ‘Targetfollow are thrilled to welcome The Hive into our community of independent businesses at The Pantiles and look forward to them bringing the same success they have created at Cranbrook and Flimwell Park. The Pantiles continues to flourish and the creation of co-working, meeting space, and an exciting new culinary offer, brings additional reasons for people to enjoy the atmosphere of the Pantiles, increasing footfall for the benefit of all businesses. We look forward to working with Emma, Stuart and their team to add to the buzz of this historic destination.’

Small businesses and entrepreneurs need look no further than The Hive. Whether you need a booth to make a private zoom call, or a vibrant bar area to entertain a client – The Hive has it all. Customers have the freedom to use the different sites in a way that best suits their needs and mood, empowering them to function at their best across the Kent and Sussex border.
